Last week, I went flying for the first time in 13 years. Today I went back up for an hour of touch ‘n’ goes with a nice crosswind. The first few were a little “off” but, by the end, I was feeling much better about my performance. The plane was on the centerline, pointed down the runway, and not moving sideways. The old habits did, indeed, come back.
The bad news was that I’m really struggling to reach the flap switch way over on the far side of the panel instead of grabbing a nice, large lever between the seats. And who the heck put the wings on the top of the plane so that I cannot see the runway as I turn final?!?! And I have to remember that a C-172 lands in a much more nose-high attitude than my Archer did. It seems like the old habits, good and bad, all came back. I guess it is nice to know what I need to work on first.
But when all was said and done, I got a BFR sign-off!!!
Next stop is the AME’s office on Wednesday for a class III medical. Then back to the airport. ๐
