Yee Hah! I flew a plane today for the first time in almost 13 years! 🙂 Skyhawk N6343D from St. Charles Flying Service at St. Charles Municipal Airport (3SQ). Coming back after this long was almost as good as my first solo.
It seemed an auspicious day to run across an article about Glacier Girl, the P-38 Lightening that was buried in the Greenland ice in 1945 and flew again in 2002. Take a look at Like a Hot Knife through Ice
Over the last couple of days, I have spent some “ground school” time reviewing stuff that has changed, new airspace, new weather formats, relaxed IFR currency requirements, etc. I rejoined AOPA. I bought a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator and flew a C172 out of 3SQ (how could I not?). And I dug out pretty much all of my old gear. You know what, decades old charts are pretty funny to look at these days!
Best of all, though, was this morning’s 1.1 doing steep turns, stalls, slow flight, and pattern work.
I’m sure that you will read more about flying here in the weeks to come. I’d love to read your comments, too.
