Windy! All day. All the way from Marsten to Blytheville. Nothing but M F wind. The gummint even labeled it so.

I took this picture just before lunch. Flags start to stand out straight at 32 MPH.

Four hours later, it had improved (if “improved” means higher speeds)

I was ready to upload the map and make a thoroughly disgusted, terse blog post. Here’s the map. 7.1 MPH for the day.
But then… oh my goodness did the sky turn beautiful.

It’s amazing how a whole day’s struggles vanish with a few minutes of beauty.
I made it to the concrete arch over US-61 at the Missouri-Arkansas border.

You know what? Had I not been so delayed by wind, I would not have been at this spot at this exact moment to see this.

Life does not get much better than this.
You can find all of my blog posts about this bike tour here: St. Louis to New Orleans

Man what a beautiful picture of the sunset through the arch! I have been enjoying watching your journey. Great to see you doing another ride!
Beautiful pictures!
Art, I have a friend who is headed northbound on the MRT and is getting close to you. He passed through West Memphis today. His name is Ken Krueger, from northern Minnesota. If you see him say hi.
Will do 🙂
Beautiful sky!!!!
The sky is certainly gorgeous, but someone once told me that the more beauty in the red depths of color, the more pollution! Is that true?
Gorgeous photos! I’m glad you arrived at the concrete arch at just the right time.
You never cease to amaze! I love this. Safe travels and I’ll see you when you return. (Missed you Sunday morning!)
What a timely moment captured ! Makes all the harshness of the day a little less. Keep your eyes open to simple pleasures. Safe travels.
