Back in December, I decided that I wanted to start 2025 by watching the sunrise over the Gulf of Mexico from Grand Isle, LA. Candy and I hauled our travel trailer down to Grand Isle State Park. The weather cooperated, and I got three gorgeous shots.
Here are small versions of the photos that I got at dawn on January 1, 2025. I encourage you to jump over to my 2025 New Orleans New Year gallery to see them larger.
Grand Isle State Park seemed to be a neat place although it was too cold and windy to spend any time hiking or biking. It is the only state park on a barrier island in the Gulf. To get there, we drove over bridges that seemed to have been plucked from the pages of a Dr. Seuss book. Our campsite was just a five minute walk up and over a levee from the shoreline.
Hi Art,
Beautiful pictures. Thanks.
Wouldn’t that be The Gulf of AMERICA? 🙂

Great photos, how do you make them move?
