Candy and I discovered beautiful scenery and fascinating museums just a five hour drive from our home. We headed down to Bentonville, AR in November for some leaf peeping and artwork gazing. We found more than we could do in a week.
I spent a couple of half days bicycling the paved trails and roads in the area. I was jealous; all of the trails that I rode were better than the infrastructure we have in Saint Charles.
We spent two afternoons at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Between the walking trails dotted with outdoor sculpture and the indoor exhibits, there is way more than a person can absorb in two visits.
We found the nearby Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel on a wooded hilltop overlooking Lake Norwood.
We flew through the Museum of Native American History but bailed out halfway through. Our brains were full. We have to return to see the rest.
And of course, we ate and ate and ate. I highly recommend Table Mesa and Tavola Trattoria. Just watch out, you may end up looking like Stella… both in size and with the grin.

Have you visited Bentonville? What were your favorite spots?
Frank says
Now I know why Warren Buffett never left Arkansas. Beautiful state to visit regardless of our political affiliations.
By the way Art , did you say you drove 5 hours each way?
It could have been 2 hours each way lol. I am glad you enjoyed the trip.
