I have a new favorite Passover recipe. I know, I know; horseradish plus vodka sounds awful but trust me, it’s surprisingly good. It actually tastes kind of sweet.
Ingredients
- Vodka
- Horseradish
Directions
Collect your ingredients and a knife and a cutting board. Or scissors. Or a hatchet. Whatever’s handy for making small-ish pieces out of the hunk of horseradish root.
Cut up some of the horseradish root. I used a piece about half the size of my thumb and made pieces about this size.
Get a partner to help with the next step.
Make some space inside the bottle for the horseradish by pouring two small glasses. That will be just the perfect amount of space. Your partner and you can figure out what to do with the vodka in the glasses.
Almost done.
Put the horseradish in the bottle.
Let it steep for a couple of days and taste it. If you are happy, remove the horseradish. If not, let it steep for another day.
L’chaim (to life)!!
Pro tip #1: To remove the horseradish from the bottle, pour the vodka into a pitcher. Then you can easily shake the horseradish into the trash. Finally, pour the vodka back into the bottle.
Pro tip #2: Alcohol kills coronavirus. I don’t remember whether you use the alcohol internally or externally. Maybe this will help. Maybe not. Let me know.

Loved this article, Art. Thanks for sharing it. However, I am not ready to sacrifice an entire bottle of vodka in an experiment whose results I might not like.
I’ll conduct a small scale experiment using a small glass of vodka, and various other condiments, like ketchup and OK sauce. What could possibly go wrong?
PS. My calendar shows that poisson d’Avril is still 10 days away.
