In building the wiring harness for my Bede BD-4C airplane, I decided to lace the wires together instead of using cable ties. This video shows you how to do it yourself.
I used lacing tape from Aircraft Spruce on my project.
This is my first attempt at a “real” tutorial video. I know that I’m no riveting TV star but I sure learned a lot about video production in the process. Hopefully, you will learn about lacing wire if you watch it.

Nice! You will get VERY good as well as fast by the time you have completed the entire plane. There is another knot commonly used as well for “hard to reach” places as well but I’m sure you already know about it. Keep up the great work!
Art Zemon says
No, I don’t know that knot, Bret. Do you have a pointer?
Chuck Birdsall says
Art, I think Bret is referring to this method –

The great work continues!

Nice Video, Art.
Why, even a Cave Man could do it!

LOL

Hey Art, great video. In my younger gear head days I had to replace sections of wiring harnesses on cars and I used the same basic lacing technique; it’s more of a PIA then difficult.
Well done!

Thanks, Paul. 🙂

Art,
I’m thinking of purchasing a BD-4C but doing the build assist. How has your experience been with Bede Corp. thus far?
I too keep coming back to this aircraft. I actually called and spoke to Jim about the project and he seemed very honest about the bottom line up front cost of building it there.
I just can’t seem to find anyone who owns one so that I can contact them and check it out myself.
Any thoughts or comments?
Art Zemon says
Dave,
BedeCorp has been really good. You do have to remember that it is a tiny corporation, just a few employees, so you are not going to have the same experience that you will get with a bigger operation. Some things take more time. On the other hand, you will always get personal attention, so it’s a trade-off. I am very pleased to be working with the folks there.
Do come join the BD-4 forum at http://forum.bd-4.org/ so that you can talk with more BD-4 owners.
