I have been a little bit concerned that there might not be quite enough space inside the main landing gear box of my Bede BD-4C airplane for the MGL autopilot servos. Physically, the box is clearly wide enough for the MGL servos; you can see that in the photos in Mounting Autopilot Servos in the BD-4C. Beyond that, I wanted to confirm that there was actually sufficient space to move the rudder cable, without hitting either side of the box.
I fashioned a clamping block out of some scrap Delrin plastic. I mocked up a short connecting rod with more aviation grade blue masking tape. I clamped the servo into position. I bolted everything together. And… well… watch the video to see for yourself.
Yeah… I’m happy. 🙂

Looks like a winner!! Just make sure none of the mounting will flex with air load on the stabilator or rudder.

Good point. The mounts are completely rigid in the direction the actuator moves. Air loads will not make anything flex. You can see the next time you stop by.
