Great fun was to be had at St. Charles Flying Service’s second annual pumpkin drop at St. Charles County Smartt Airport this afternoon. The festivities were opened with a cluster bombing run by “Show Me”, the B-25 based on the field.
I did take my shot at the target but, as expected, found that a Piper Arrow is a suboptimal ground attack plane. What with the low wing and the out-front engine, it’s impossible to actually see either the target or the “bomb.” Ground observers did their best but my bombardier and I proved hopelessly incompetent at anything more than thoroughly enjoying ourselves. There is something truly primal about dropping stuff out of an airplane! If you haven’t done it, find an excuse and give it a try.
Here are the rest of the pictures of the B-25. Click on a picture to see it larger.

Hi Art,
I can watch the video, but I just see a blank space where the pictures should be. I tried it with Chrome and Firefox. Shall I try IE? 🙂
