I am not a Bush fan but I do want to acknowledge his courage and leadership in these statements, made today:
President Bush said Tuesday, “To the extent the federal government didn’t fully do its job right, I take responsibility.”
Full details from AP here.
Now that you have accepted responsiblity, Mr. Bush, what will you do to get back in integrity with the people who were hurt by your failures?

That’s exactly what I was wondering. What does it mean, to say that one “accepts responsibility” in this (political) context. Apparently, he is giving a speech about it Thursday night. Perhaps we’ll find out then.

I am a G.W. fan. BUT, he did not do well with this crisis! The result-the Media spin doctors are have going wild yet again on pointing fingers (except at themselves) and distracts everyone from creating real solutions.
I our market driven economy, if a CEO of a major took the “responsibility” for something of this magnitude, stocks would tumble, stockholders would revolt, CEO gets fired (albeit with a golden parachute) and a new person would get the opportunity.
