The firewall on my Bede BD-4C airplane is finally bolted in place. There are 58 bolts. They have all been on, and off, and on, and off, and on again. Some more times than that. But they are finally all on for (I hope) the last time.
Since the firewall is basically just a big flat pieces of stainless steel, the photos are boring. Here is the worst:
Here is a close-up of the center section. This part was at least kind of interesting, since I tried to follow the curved outline of the landing gear. It did not come out quite symmetrical but, fortunately, I can trust you to keep it a secret and not let anyone else know that my airplane is less than perfectly crafted.
I made inserts for the rectangular channels that support the engine mount. Here is one of them.
The last task, which I will wait awhile to do, is to fill all of the gaps with 3M Fire Barrier 2000+, a fire rated silicone sealant.

Looking good Art! Is the back side of the nose gear shock sealed up to prevent gas entry?

No. It’s a less-than-perfect design. Stop by sometime when you are near my house and we can brainstorm a bit. Maybe there is something to do to reduce the risk.
