My Bede BD-4C is looking more like a modern airplane and less like the Wright Flyer, since I bonded the eight foot long section of skin to the right, rear section of the fuselage. Conceptually, it’s simple. Paint the 3M Scotch-Weld #10 contact adhesive onto the airplane and onto the skin.
Paint more adhesive onto the skin. Then stick the skin onto the airplane. With help. Getting it right the first time… because once it sticks, you cannot move the skin. No problem.
Actually, this is the fourth piece of skin that I have bonded onto the plane and I am much less nervous about it now. Candy was a trooper, helping with the alignment. Neighbor Al helped stabilize the plane while I used a roller to press the skin down onto the airframe. Here is the result.

Very nice!
I’m going to see the Bede folks tomorrow here at S&F. Been working the EAA booth so haven’t seen anyone yet.

John…
I’m not sure if you know but the Bede display is out in Paradise City just beyond the LSA mall.
