Last night I installed the outer aileron support bracket on the right wing of my Bede BD-4C. Here is a bonus photo with all of the brackets labeled so you can see what all I have been babbling about for the last couple of weeks. Click on the picture to see a larger version.
The wing is 10 feet long and the brackets are about 40 inches apart. If you look closely, you will see that the mid-flap bracket is just a plastic ring. The flap rib will rotate against the ring but the flaps move much less frequently than the ailerons; just a couple of times per flight. The ailerons, on the other hand, are in constant motion. The aileron torque tube runs the length of the wing and is supported by the other three brackets, each of which has a real bearing pressed into it.
