Today, Mark Zuckerberg said,
I’m sorry for everything you have all been through. No one should have to go through the things that your families have suffered, and this is why we invested so much.
There are three components to a real apology.
- Acknowledge the victim’s pain.
- Take responsibility for your action which caused the pain.
- Commit to specific changes to avoid that action in your future.
Zuckerberg only did part 1.
So let’s stop pretending that he apologized.
