I take my hearing for granted most of the time but when I stop to think about it, holy cow!, I realize how much it adds to my life. My hearing lets me communicate with people even when I am not looking at them.
Hearing pretty much made raising my sons possible. As long as I could hear them crashing around, I knew where they were and what they were doing. Trouble was brewing when it was too quiet.
Hearing is key to two of my hobbies: community theater sound guy and aviation. For the theater, I design the sound effects and run the microphones and sound board. When flying, my ears are critical for radio communication.
And music… I’m not much good at making it but I love listening to it.
