I was driving along Illinois Route 100 today. Candy and I were on the way to Pere Marquette State Park. I had an ulterior motive, too: checking out the bike trail along that road. Much of that section is part of the MRT, the Mississippi River Trail which runs along the entire length of the Mississippi River. I want to ride this section of Route 100 and wanted to put my eyes on it before I committed myself to pedaling along a pretty busy road.
Somewhere around Grafton, I noticed a man with a string trimmer, grooming the side the the MRT. I am deeply thankful for the work that he does, and the thousands of people like him. I rarely even give their work a thought but I reap the benefits of their work almost daily.
