People are hungry, more so in the wake of hurricane Katrina and the tragedies along the gulf coast. You can help by donating to MAZON. “MAZON funds soup kitchens, food pantries, food banks, multi-service centers, advocacy organizations and a host of other anti-hunger agencies throughout the United States and beyond.” Make a donation to MAZON In addition to disaster relief, MAZON works to assure that everyone has enough to eat every day.

The American Red Cross is one of the major suppliers of blood products (whole blood, plasma, platelets, etc.) to hospitals throughout the nation and the world. No one has invented a substitute for the blood that you can donate. If you are at least 17 years old and healthy, you can probably donate blood. It doesn’t hurt and your body will replace it in just one day. Without blood, people die. You can make a difference. Here is a bit more that I have written about giving blood.
