People are hungry, more so in the wake of hurricane Katrina and the tragedies along the gulf coast. The American Red Cross is one of the major suppliers of blood products (whole blood, plasma, platelets, etc.) to hospitals throughout the nation and the world. No one has invented a substitute for the blood that you can donate. If you are at least 17 years old and healthy, you can probably donate blood. It doesn’t hurt and your body will replace it in just one day. Without blood, people die. You can make a difference.
